With the Drupal community’s decision to extend Drupal 7’s end of life until November 28, 2022, as well as the release of Drupal 9, the Islandora Foundation has revised its version support timeline. We will be extending the period of security fixes for Islandora 7 to November 2022 to match Drupal 7’s end of life.

News on Islandora 8, formerly known as 'CLAW'
Islandora 8 was released last June without built-in support for paged content. Our community placed a very high priority on correcting that omission and getting books and newspapers ready for migration from collections in islandora 7. Thanks to an incredibly successful community sprint back in September, paged content is in!
Thanks again to everyone involved for another successful community sprint. During those two weeks, we reviewed all of our existing documentation and added quite a few new pages to support the new features we've picked up since 1.0.0 was released. You can see it all at islandora.github.io/documentation.
We will be kicking off 2020 with another Islandora 8 webinar showcasing a pilot site. One of the earliest adopters of Islandora 8, and an integral part of its development so far, the University of Nevada Las Vegas will join us on January 21, 2020 to showcase the results of their migration. They will discuss why they chose to go with Islandora 8 back in early 2018, what they have learned so far, and what's coming next for UNLV.

The latest Islandora 8 sprint focussed on a key aspect of our first release: documentation. It has been a stunning success.
As Islandora 8 (known during development as Islandora CLAW) swiftly approaches its first official release, the Islandora Foundation would like to clarify our plans for continued support for active versions of our platform.
The name "Islandora CLAW" was always intended as a working name, to give us a quick (and fun) way to refer to the project as a distinct entity from Islandora 7.x.
Are you looking ahead to a migration from Islandora 7 to Islandora 8 (CLAW)? The tools to get you there are further along than you might think. In a new video, Islandora's Technical Lead, Danny Lamb, walks through a migration using the migrate_7x_claw module.
