Islandora Collections/Sites
Islandora is quickly becoming a major interface for digital collections assets of all kinds, especially those based on the Fedora Repisitory system from DuraSpace. This page provides links to some of the publically available sites. If you would like to have your site listed here please contact Courtney Earl Matthews.
Collections at UPEI
The University of PEI is the home of the Islandora Project and has an increasing number of digital collections available via Islandora.
- Island Magazine - In partnership with the PEI Museum and Heritage Foundation, the Robertson Library has digitized the complete Island Magazine collection.
- Island Newspapers - This initiative will see the development of a comprehensive collection of PEI's historical newspapers. While in the early stages, we have started digitizing the Guardian.
- Island Imagined - A comprehensive collection of PEI maps, produced in collaboration with Public Archives and Records Office and the PEI Museum and Heritage Foundation.
- IslandLives - IslandLives is a privately funded project designed to create a comprehensive online collection of PEI's local histories and related publications. In addition to making the material available (where permission has been obtained), IslandLives will also develop an innovative and detailed "mark-up" of the texts, allowing a comprehensive search by personal and geographic names, as well as other attributes. The system will allow the text of family entries to be updated and new original material to be digitized and added to the collection. Additional innovations will include a "community mode" which will allow members of the community to edit material, add comments, tags, etc.
- Basic Academic Skills - the BAS resource is a unique collection of videos designed to help first-year University students be more successful. These videos were created by Amy Kelly with the support of the Inukshuk project.
- UPEI Magazine - The official magazine of the University of PEI. This is an early test version, so you may experience some instability when viewing individual issues.
- Red & White - The Red & White is a complete collection of the St. Dunstan's student newspaper. St. Dunstan's was one of the 2 predecessor bodies which came together to create the University of PEI. The Red & White collection was originally developed in DSpace, but was ported to Fedora as the Library's first digital collection using the new Fedora/Drupal system. The Red & White project was made possible through generous donations from the St. Dunstan's alumi and Jim Palmer and family.

IslandScholar- islandScholar is UPEI's institutional repository, a comprehensive collection of the scholarly output of the institution. The first version, launched in December 2008, provides both citation-only and
fulltext material. Library staff will be working with Faculty in the coming months to add additional fulltext content. IslandScholar uses Robertson Library's unique Repository-in-a-Box" approach to building such collections. - Remember UPEI - A collection of material from the Archives of UPEI. We will also be linking in the full archive of class photos and other material in the near future.
