Many thanks to our sponsor:
I am sad to report that we did not get any entires to our t-shirt logo contest this time around, but hopefully our campers in California will still enjoy the alternative that we came up with:
In honour of our host location, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, the camp's logo references two transuranic elements discovered by Berkeley Lab scientists: berkelium and californium, and the heretofore undiscovered extreme transuranic element islandorium, which I'm told would probably be a metal, would have insanely complicated electrons, and could only exist if there's a crazy island of stability hanging around up in atomic numbers above 2000. So we should probably stick to repository software and stay out of physics.
Want one? register now and there will be one waiting for you in Berkeley!
One of the features of the last few Islandora Camps is the camp t-shirt given to all attendees. Every camp has its own logo. Last time around we ended up with a really slick logo for our Islandora Camp in NYC:
So we're doing it again for California. We want to give a free registration and a couple of extra t-shirts to the iCampCA attendee who comes up with the snazziest logo for the next round of t-shirts.
Entries will be put up on the website for voting by camp attendees and a winner will be selected and announced December 9, 2013.
Here are the details to enter:
Thank you and good luck!
The Islandora Foundation is very happy to announce the date and location of Islandora Camp's first foray to the West Coast: January 15th - 17th, 2014 at the beautiful campus of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley, California.
Islandora Camp CA will take the same format as our upcoming Camp in NYC, with two days of sessions and one day of hands-on training in either a Developer or Administrator track, presentations from the community, and an opportunity to win your registration by entering a contest to design the camp t-shirt.
Registration is opening very soon, so check back here and on Twitter for the latest announcements. See you in California!
